Core Governance Principles:
NWHO is structured to uphold transparency, accountability, and active member participation. The organizational structure directing and supervising the NWHO consists of board of directors (BoDs), general body, executive director of the organization, developmental and technical advisor, executive committee, management committee , supporting staff, project staffs, and volunteers. At the apex of its governance is the General Body, a collective of qualified individuals from diverse professional backgrounds. This body, elected by the membership, sets the organization's strategic course, approves budgets, and oversees performance, ensuring alignment with NWHO's mission.
Strategic Direction and Policy:
The Board of Directors (BODs), also elected by the General Body, is responsible for policy and program development. Comprising minimum seven members serving four-year terms, the BODs act as the ultimate authority on organizational matters, providing stable and consistent leadership.
Operational Management:
The Executive Director manages daily operations, coordinating and implementing organizational activities. The Management Committee, led by a chairperson, executes strategic plans and directives from the BODs. This committee, featuring key personnel like the Human Resource, Program, Administrative, and Financial Managers, ensures efficient program delivery.
Member Engagement and Transparency:
To promote transparency and member engagement, NWHO holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where all members, including the BODs, General Body, and Management Committee, discuss and approve vital reports, plans, and budgets. This meeting fosters open dialogue and ensures the organization remains responsive to member needs.
Long-Term Strategic Planning:
Furthermore, a General Assembly (GM) convenes every two years to address significant organizational matters, encouraging active participation from all stakeholders. This assembly serves as a platform for strategic discussions and collective decision-making, shaping the organization's future.
Membership and Participation:
Membership in NWHO is open to both individuals and organizations who share the organization's values and are recommended by existing members and approved by the General Body. Members have the right to participate in meetings, vote, and contribute to the organization's activities. Accurate membership records are maintained to ensure effective communication.
Financial Sustainability:
To support operations, members contribute annual subscriptions, as determined by the Board of Directors. NWHO also welcomes donations and special subscriptions for specific needs. The organization operates under a framework that champions democratic participation, transparency, and accountability, guaranteeing that all members have a meaningful voice in its direction.
Management and Expertise:
NWHO's operational effectiveness is enhanced by a dedicated Management Committee, which implements strategic plans and instructions from the Board of Directors. This committee comprises essential roles, including the Executive Director, Human Resource Manager, Program Managers, Administrative Manager, Financial Manager, and Supporting Staff, ensuring efficient and coordinated execution of organizational activities.
Specialized Advisory and Support:
To further strengthen its capacity, NWHO engages Developmental and Technical Advisors with extensive experience in relevant fields such as education, environmental protection, human rights, and development. These advisors bring specialized knowledge and expertise, contributing to the organization's strategic planning and program implementation. They are selected for their proven track record, leadership skills, and commitment to NWHO’s vision and core values, ensuring that the organization benefits from high-level guidance and support. This approach aligns with best practices of cooperative governance, emphasizing the importance of informed decision-making and professional management to achieve sustainable and impactful outcomes.
